How does Geo-Thermal work?
To transfer heat from one body to another – using geothermal principles – a water source is necessary. This source is usually a well; often water from a lake, canal or river will suffice.
The “source water” is pumped through the inner tube of a tube-in-tube heat exchanger in a counter flow with the refrigerant being circulated by the compressor through the outer where heat is transferred from water to the refrigerant by condition.
The refrigerant enters the evaporator source water heat exchangers where it evaporates into vapor. Evaporation requires a large amount of heat (the heat of evaporation) and that heat, removed from source water is absorbed by the refrigerant.
The compressor then removes the warm refrigerant vapor from the evaporator and compresses it to the high pressure. This (heat of compression) further increases the temperature. The hot vapor then enters a second heat exchanger where it is “condensed” back to a liquid. For condensation to occur a large amount of heat (the heat rejection) is given up to the pool or spa water as it flows through the condenser heat exchanger.
Cupro-nickel Heat Exchangers
Cupro-nickel (cupronickel) is an alloy of copper, nickel and strengthening elements such as iron and manganese. Cupro-nickel exhibits superior corrosion resistance in seawater, piping systems, and heat exchangers. The Cupro-nickel alloy technology has been known by the Chinese since the third century B.C. under the name “white copper” and was used in corrosive environments and is still used extensively in the modern era today. Cupro-nickel with its alloy properties such as a low general corrosion due to chlorides, good pitting resistance, readily weld-able, easy to fabricate and its inherent resistance to biofoulding is uniquely qualified as an ideal candidate and one of the preferred materials used for heat exchangers in the geothermal industry. Cupro-nickel salt water piping systems in some pool and heat exchangers can last a lifetime.

Titanium Heat Exchangers
Titanium is a lustrous transition metal with a silver color, low density and high strength. It is highly resistant to corrosion in salt water, acid and chlorine. Commercial grades of titanium have strength of about 63,000 psi, equal to that of common, low-grade steel alloys, but are 45% less dense. The titanium alloy was discovered in 1795 by scientist Martin Heinrich Klaproth in Germany, and developed through the cold war era. Titanium is used in corrosive environments and is still used extensively in the modern era today. It is uniquely qualified as an ideal candidate and one of the preferred materials used for swimming pool heaters, aquariums, aquaculture, waste heat recovery, and water source geo-thermal heat exchange. Titanium salt water piping systems in some pool and heat exchangers can last a lifetime.

Green Friendly R-410A Refrigerant
What makes R-410A better than R-22?
• It’s environmentally conscience.
• You avoid the risk that R-22 could become expensive or difficult to get when your system needs to be repaired.
• R-410A systems can be more reliable than R-22 systems.
• R-410A uses more advanced, newer synthetic lubricants which are less likely to break down under extreme conditions.
If your system ever leaks, any escaping R-410A refrigerant will not contribute to ozone depletion! The old R-22 refrigerant will be phased out along with other ozone depleting chemicals, and both supply and demand of this chemical will be significantly affected by current and upcoming regulations. By selecting an air conditioner or heat pump that uses R-410A, you will avoid the risk associated with purchasing destined to become obsolete.
R-410A refrigerant air conditioners and heat pumps are today’s “state of the art” systems, and utilize the most current technology available for efficient and reliable operations. The heart of every air conditioner or heat pump is the compressor and newer systems are specifically designed to use R-410A. They often incorporate smaller, heavier-duty “scroll type” compressors that are quieter and operate with less damaging vibration than older compressors that operate on R-22 could. Compressors with R-410A run cooler than r-22 systems, reducing the risk of burnout due to overheating.
R-410A systems use a synthetic lubricant to help keep the system operating smoothly. It circulates through the inside of the system, just like the engine of a car. R-22 air conditioners have used an oil known as “mineral oil” for decades. R-410A air conditioners use new synthetic lubricants, typically more soluble with R-410A than the mineral oils are with R-22. This means they can mix and circulate more efficiently, reducing wear and tear on the compressor and other moving parts.

The appliances utilize a refrigerant to water heat exchangers on the condenser side to heat the pool water and a refrigerant to water heat exchanger on the evaporator side is drawn from a well or some other supply of waters. The units may also be piped to cool the pool water by reversing the evaporator and the condenser. The units are intended for outdoor installation and are intended for permanent connection to power and water supplies. All units are shipped to be assembled on site and are provided with all components necessary for assembly.
All models are constructed identically and the differences are in capacity and whether or not they are used for heating or cooling the pool water.
